The main component of talc is hydrotalcite hydrous magnesium silicate with the molecular formula of mg3 [si4o10] (OH) 2. Talc belongs to monoclinic system. The crystal is pseudohexagonal or rhombic, occasionally. They are usually dense massive, leafy, radial and fibrous aggregates. It is colorless and transparent or white, but it is light green, light yellow, light brown or even light red due to a small amount of impurities; the cleavage surface is pearl luster. Hardness 1, specific gravity 2.7-2.8.
Talc powder has excellent physical and chemical properties such as lubricity, fire resistance, acid resistance, insulation, high melting point, chemical inactivity, good covering power, softness, good luster, strong adsorption, etc. because the crystal structure of talc is layered, it has the tendency of easy splitting into scales and special lubricity. If the content of Fe2O3 is very high, its insulation will be reduced.
Usage of talc:
(1) Cosmetics grade (Hz): used for all kinds of moisturizing powder, beauty powder, talcum powder, etc.
(2) Medicine food grade (YS): medicine tablet, sugar coating, prickly heat powder, Chinese medicine prescription, food additive, isolation agent, etc.
(3) Coating grade (TL): used for white body pigment and all kinds of water-based, oil-based, resin industrial coatings, primer, protective paint, etc.
(4) Paper grade (zz): used as filler for all kinds of paper and paperboard, wood asphalt control agent.
(5) Plastic grade (SL): used as filler for polypropylene, nylon, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polystyrene, polyester and other plastics.
(6) Rubber grade (AJ): used for rubber filler and anti adhesion agent of rubber products.
